On 30 October, the Hong Kong People Association (HKPA) held a tax planning and career talk inviting industry experts to share useful information on tax planning and provide job seeking advice for Hongkongers who have just settled in the U.K. Our guest speakers include Mr. Jonathan Longridge, Recruiter at Hays, and Mr. Max Li, Tax advisor and partner at EIK Business.

For Hongkongers who has just arrived in the UK, job seeking is one of their biggest concerns. As the working environment and culture is different between the UK and Hong Kong, some might find it struggling when beginning their career seeking journey in the UK.

Mr. Jonathan has rich experience in the recruitment and is familiar with the UK’s financial industry. He has shared with us about the overview of the UK’s financial markets as well as insights in the UK job market and emerging recruitment trends. He has also provided practical job seeking advice like CV writing skills and interview tips.

In the second session of the seminar, Mr. Max Li has talked us through the tax policies in the UK. Max is an experienced tax consultant who has profound knowledge in tax planning and asset management. He has provided comprehensive information on the UK tax system covering personal tax, property tax, as well as company tax. This information is extreme useful for those who would like to set up company or purchase properties in the UK.

The seminar is a great success, and we are glad to see so many attendees coming to the event. In the future, HKPA will organise similar activities providing more useful information to everyone.
